Deskripsi Steam mengkonfirmasi Frostpunk 2 berlangsung 30 tahun setelah peristiwa game pertama. Co-director Frostpunk 2 Jakub Stokalski mengatakan sequelnya akan “jauh melampaui Frostpunk asli,” dengan tim berkembang lebih dari 70 pengembang menyediakan “lebih banyak tenaga yang tersedia untuk fokus pada semua aspek game”.
“What players should expect is a wide universe of choices, the freedom to shape the society and the city however they see fit – and reap the consequences,” tambahnya. “Frostpunk 2 builds on the conflicts of its predecessor – survival vs human values, life vs the arctic frost. But most importantly, it adds a new layer that is present in many aspects of the game – be it politics, society or technological progress – the conflict between humans and their nature.”
Sejauh ini Frostpunk 2 hanya diumumkan untuk rilis di PC (melalui Steam, GOG atau Epic Games Store), tetapi versi aslinya juga dirilis di konsol dan bahkan seluler – jadi mungkin lebih banyak platform akan diumumkan di kemudian hari. Sampai saat ini, Frostpunk 2 belum memiliki tanggal rilis.
